I'm a photo editor at the Chicago Tribune. I assign photographers to stories, choose photos and plan photo coverage of events for different feature sections in the Chicago Tribune.
As a mentor for Green in the City, I'm happy to be a part of this cool project.
A long time ago, when I was a photographer for a newspaper on the Southeast side of Chicago, I saw first hand the impact of industrial pollution and contamination of the air, water and land that made life difficult for residents. But I also saw people rise up and speak out with some effect to the government and companies that conspired to concentrate hazardous materials in this area.
Green in the City is a chance for students to make a real impact on their environment by learning about the issues and relating them in stories pictures and video.
Stay tuned to Green in the City for some exciting work!
